28-03-2010
I am happy to announce that MPAC and Mixed Up Mutts will be the hosts of
the 2010 National Pet Adoptathon. This event will be held at PetSmart, 1290 E Ireland Rd. in South Bend, IN beginning at 12:00pm Friday, April 30th, and ending at 5:30 pm on Sunday May 2nd, 2010.

Click on the title for more details about this event!

There will be many area rescue groups and animal shelters participating with over 100 animals available for adoption.  We will have puppies, kittens, dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. All adoptions will benefit not only the adopted pets, but also the rescue groups and shelters who have cared for them.

The rescue groups and shelters who have reserved a place so far are:  Mixed Up Mutts, Prison Tails, Dream Paws, Midwest Assistance Dogs, Heartland, Pet Refuge, St. Joseph County Humane Society, South Bend Animal Care and Control, ARK animal rescue, Michiana Pet Advocacy Center, Northern Indiana Greyhound Rescue.

There will also be an informational tent, "reading dogs" that children can read to, demonstrations by Midwest Assistance Dogs, and Prison Tails graduates.  Michiana Pet Advocacy Center will also have some "library" pets that can be "checked out" and/or adopted with an approved application. IWREN, (Indiana Wildlife Rehabilitators and Educators Network) will also provide information and pictures of the animals they have worked with.  There will be balloons, prizes and candy for the kids who attend, as well as plenty of "doggie kisses" to go around!

Donations of bedding, towels, new or used pet supplies, and pet food will be accepted and divided among the participating groups or you may donate your items directly to the group of your choice during the event.

This will be a huge event, and there will be well over 100 pets available for adoption.
